It started with a chat

Worried by the forecast drought and hosepipe ban, Louise Angus sought to find a product to help move her child's bathwater onto the garden. She found nothing - either from the water companies, the internet or retailers.

Talking through the problem with her friend Antonia Lord, the concept of the WaterGreen was conceived. As an engineer's daughter, Antonia had some innovative ideas. They tested a dozen different approaches before the ideal, simple, robust, low priced product was invented.

Starting with a few made in the kitchen and sold to friends, DroughtBuster UK and its WaterGreen product began to take off.

Underestimating demand

After filing their first patent applications, they launched a website to test the market. They clearly underestimated demand. Within days, Antonia was sourcing parts from the USA, Europe and the Far East - Louise was answering calls from worried gardeners everywhere.

Antonia, with a touch for high quality customer service, is always there for her clients. "It is such a pleasure to receive dozens of thank you letters and emails praising the quality of the product and service. There can't be many companies today who get this level of appreciation from their customers."

From kitchen to full production

The kitchen factory has now been outsourced and they are fulfiling a heavy stream of orders from the public and from mail order catalogues.

"It has all been rather fast" said Louise "In the first 10 weeks we have gone from idea to national product distribution. I think that's quite impressive, for a full-time mum."

Growth in 2007

In 2007, WaterGreen has international distribution; is being carried by all major green wholesales and has been awarded a Waterwise Award for Water saving.

The future

Antonia and Louise are both passionate about the environment and recycling. The WaterGreen is their first contribution to changing the way people use water.
